Arrieta and Punta Mujeres are two small, former fishing villages who could still maintain their island-typical charm.Swimming in Arrieta / Punta Mujeres:
At the southern end of Arrieta there is the sandy beach called Playa la Garita in a large bay. It is a very popular but by tourists underused beach. Here you can meet mainly locals. On the beach there is also a restaurant and a snack bar. In Punta Mujeres along the coast there are several tidal pools that fill up at high tide with fresh water and invite to have a protected swim in the sea.
Supermarkets in Arrieta:
In the center of Arrieta there is a new small supermarket which is opened also Sundays till 2PM. At the gas station at the entrance of Arrieta there is another, which is open daily (also on Sundays) till 9:30PM. In Punta Mujeres there are several small supermarkets. Further, and again larger supermarkets (Euro Spar, Lidl) are available in Arrecife, about 30km away.
Eating in Arrieta:
in Arrieta and Punta Mujeres there are several restaurants, also directly at the sandy beach of Playa la Garita. Specialty is of course indigenous fish, often daily fresh available, ask for it.
Shopping:
In Arrieta and Punta Mujeres there are only few opportunities to shop. Shopping centers in Lanzarote you can find in Teguise (20km), Costa Teguise (20 km), Arrecife (30km) and in Playa Honda (35km)
Markets:
On Saturdays in Haría, arts and handycraft market, 10AM - 2PM, about 5km away. On Sundays in Teguise, 10AM - 2PM, about 20km away. Fridays in Costa Teguise in Pueblo Marinero, 6PM - 10PM, also about 20km distance.
Excursions:
Island excursions to watch Lanzarote by tourist bus are not offered (thanks to god) from Arrieta and Punta Mujeres. It is recommendable to have a hired car to discover the beauty of the island on your own. Car hire is very cheap on Lanzarote, and the vehicle can be brought to your accommodation. Tourism:
The area around Arrieta and Punta Mujeres has a very low tourist frequency, it is limited to a few apartments and bungalows which are rented here. The nearest major tourist resorts in Lanzarote are Costa Teguise (20km), Puerto del Carmen (40km) and Playa Blanca (60km)
